KKR Team 2024 IPL Players List, Full Squads

KKR Team

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who have not qualified for the playoffs in two consecutive seasons are looking to make some big decisions to steer the team towards winning ways, as they have appointed their former captain, Gautam Gambhir, as the new mentor of the side for the 2024 edition. The two-time champions have let go of some big names like Shardul Thakur, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee, and Shakib Al Hasan, among a few others, ahead of the auctions.

Coming to the auction, KKR had the third-biggest purse. But they didn’t shy away from the same while spending, they focused quite a lot on building a solid squad. For most parts of the first three sets, they remained mute. But with the arrival of Mitchell Starc in the auction, the franchise broke the bank and handed the Australian World Cup-winning pacer a record fee of INR 24.75 crore. He had a fallout with the management of KKR in the past, but now, it seems like things have been settled as KKR went all out for the cricketer. Apart from Starc, they have reinforced their pace unit by including Chetan Sakariya.

However, after signing Starc, the franchise was left with very little money to sign other world-class players. They ended up picking players like Sherfane Rutherford, Manish Pandey, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for cheaper prices. The team looks pretty balanced with the number of quality all-rounders they have.

The KKR squad for IPL 2024 looks destructive with experienced internationals and promising talent from the domestic circuit. Gautam Gambhir and Shreyas Iyer have both been presented with a promising squad for IPL 2024.

KKR’s Strengths

Looking into the 2024 IPL season, the strength of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) would balance p between the explosiveness of its batting lineup, the versatilities of the all-rounders, and the experience of the bowlers. The inclusion of premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who walks into any team in the world, makes their pace attack one of the best in the tournament.

Another major strength of KKR is their All-rounder trio of Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Venkatesh Iyer who give this side flexibility in all departments of the game. These all-rounders are proper all-rounders who can bow and bat in crucial situations.

Key players for KKR this season are:

  1. Mitchell Starc
  2. Andre Russell
  3. Shreyas Iyer
  4. Sunil Narine
  5. Varun Chakravarthy

With a well-rounded squad, KKR would be optimistic about their chances of reaching the playoffs and possibly clinching the title. Their challenge will be for the top-order who have failed in the previous seasons to successfully capitalize on the powerplay overs and build upon it as they lost quick wickets last season. If their top-order performs well this season they have very high chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
