RCB Team 2024 IPL Players List, Squads

RCB Team

RCB, being one of the most popular teams in the league, is also among the four teams who are yet to lift the trophy after fifteen editions of the IPL. RCB would be eyeing to win their maiden trophy this season.

Despite having a star-studded squad, RCB seemed to miss something every season. Either their bowling doesn’t click, or they have issues with the lower middle order finishing the game. With the addition of Cameron Green, they have increased their batting depth. However, during the auction, they seemed to have missed their targets as they bid for both Cummins and Starc and failed in both their efforts. They have settled for lower-priced bowlers like Alzarri Joesph, Tom Curran, and Lockie Ferguson. Of course, they are great bowlers, but their effectiveness on a flat track like Chinnaswamy is still a big question mark.

RCB has retained most of its key players except for the Sri Lankan star Waninndu Hasaranga.

Here’s a list of those who have been retained by the team:

Squad Strength – 25 (Indian-17, Overseas-8)

RCB’s squad looks like it is heavily dependent on its stars Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell to do well throughout the season and players like Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green chipping in with some contributions through the tournament. But their fast bowling department still looks concerning.

RCB’s Strengths

As mentioned earlier, the main strength of RCB is its top order. If one of their top three batsmen clicks, the match is half-won already. They are also an exceptional fielding unit that will play a vital role in a small ground like the Chinnaswamy Stadium

Key players for RCB this season are

  1. Virat Kohli
  2. Faf Du Plessis
  3. Glenn Maxwell
  4. Cameron Green
  5. Mohammed Siraj
  6. Lockie Ferguson

Excluding the core players, their bench strength lacks depth, with no like-to-like replacement for injury-prone players like Tom Curran. If they tackle issues with their Bowling department, then RCB is one of the teams to watch out for.
