Early Life and Journey to Cricket Stardom

Gill’s passion for cricket ignited at a tender age, and he started honing his skills in hometown. His dedication and talent did not go unnoticed and he soon caught the attention of cricket coaches and selectors. Gill’s exceptional performances in junior-level tournaments earned  a spot in the Punjab Under-16 team where he made an immediate impact with batting skills.

Gill’s meteoric rise continued as he progressed through ranks, representing India in various age-group tournaments. His outstanding performances in 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup played pivotal role in India’s victorious campaign. Gill was leading run-scorer of tournament, scored an impressive 372 runs at average of 124.00. Shubman Gill started his T20 international career in January 2023, when he played against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He has also scored highest individual score by an Indian when he smashed 126 not out against New Zealand in Ahmedabad in February 2023.

Subhaman Gill made Test debut for India in December 2020 against Australia which had helped India to a comeback and win the second match of series.

His memorable innings of 91 runs against Australia  at Gabba in 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy earned him praise for his composure and maturity.
