Flashes of brilliance with an inconsistent shadow—that has been the journey for Punjab Kings in the IPL. No different was it during the season of 2023 as they finished in the bottom half of the table. Now, with an overhauled squad in place for IPL 2024, Punjab Kings will be hoping for a change in fortune in the seasons ahead, targeting their maiden title.

Last season, despite having a squad full of potential, PBKS failed to click as a unit. Their campaign had close losses and failure to close out games where they were in a clear winning situation and somehow they bottled the game. During the auction, they aimed to strengthen their bowling department with the addition of Harshal Patel and Chris Woakes and acquired some domestic talents for the future of the franchise.

Squad Strength – 25 (Indian-17, Overseas-8)

The PBKS squad in 2024 has all the prospects of being a potential team for playoffs but we feel that they are not the favorites to finish in the top half of the table. They have a good side but their captain Shikhar Dhawan only has a 36% win rate in the IPL which is concerning.

PBKS’s Strengths:

Their strength is the powerful strength lying with the top-order when it comes to the batting lineup of Dhawan, Bairstow, and Livingstone, who are good enough to run away with the game from the opposition. Rabada will lead the fast-bowling attack, and with Harshal Patel in it, it looks decent.

Their fielding is again expected to be another strong point, given players Livingstone, Curran, Dhawan, Jitesh, and Prabsimran Singh add great strength to the fielding setup.
